Melpomene was the Muse of tragedy, despite her happy songs, and rhetoric. At first she was considered the muse of the member, hence her name. She was depicted wearing a mask of tragedy, angry, laurel wreath with a scepter and a bat in her hands.

Etymologically the ancient verb melpo means here, sing, praise and glorify, hence her name.

In Melpomene suite there are references to the neoclassical style in stricter tones through panel frames and color tones that vary in earthy shades of gray-beige, gold and blue. Blue is considered beneficial for the mind and body. It is also associated with calmness and self-concentration. The combination of earthy notes and gold give an extra sense of prestige.
