Euterpe in Greek mythology was the muse of Music. She was depicted laurel wreath playing or holding a flute. Her image was complemented by musical instruments and texts, Eros and trees with cicadas. In later classical times, she was named the muse of lyric poetry.

Her name comes from the words eu-ευ + terpo-τέρπω, meaning pleasure.
