Polimnia was the Muse of sacred hymns, eloquence, geometry and meditation. Her appearance seemed to be possessed by some deep thought and memory. She is a very serious woman, pensive and thoughtful, often holds her finger in front of her lips. She is usually depicted wearing a mantle and veil, having her elbow resting on a pillow. Wandering and looking at the sky with a laurel wreath and pearls on her head, white dress, with the lyre in her hands.

Her name is consisted of the words poly + mneia, which means the one that helps in easy learning and memorization.
